Morpho-Physiological and Stress-Related Gene Expression of Rice Varieties in Response to Salinity Stress at Early Vegetative Stage

چکیده

This study focuses on the growth and morpho-physiological responses of Malaysian commercial variety MR219 rice to salinity stress during early vegetative stages, specifically germination five-leaf stage. For responses, seeds were grown for 10 days in different salt concentrations. Low significantly improves seed increases total number germinated seeds. However, higher (160 mM NaCl) inhibits reduces by 93.3%. The effects stage also determined compared salinity-tolerant (Pokkali) susceptible (IR64) varieties. There significant reductions photosynthesis rate, transpiration stomatal conductance, leaf chlorophyll content 28.1%, 58.6%, 81.1%, 3.7%, respectively. These could contribute decrease parameters measured throughout treatment period. Based principal component analysis (PCA) result, is more tolerant than IR64, but less Pokkali. Further investigation stress-related gene expression suggests that changes transcript level genes involved gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) shunt, ion transport, reactive oxygen species detoxification be attributed adaptation tolerance each stress.

Patterns of mitochondrial gene expression in rapeseed leaves (Brassica napus L.) at early growth stage in response to drought stress

Drought stress adversely affects a plant’s growth and productivity. Wide ranges of molecular disorders could be caused by the production of reactive oxygen radicals. Plant cells have developed potential systems to prevent such damage by scavenging and reducing the reactive oxygen species (ROS). In this study, both the genotypes of oilseed rape-tolerant and sensitive to drought-were exposed to p...

Response of Two Indica Rice Varieties to Salt Stress

Salinity is one of the most challenging problems that adversely affects growth and development of plants. Therefore, understanding of the mechanisms that enable plants to adapt to salinity stress will ultimately help in the selection of stress tolerant cultivars for exploiting saline soils. The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of NaCl on some physiological and biochemic...

Response of some vegetative and physiological traits of Iranian and foreign grape cultivars to drought stress

Drought stress, as the most important environmental stress, severely disrupts plant growth and limits production and yield more than any other environmental factor. Investigation of the role of drought stress conditions on plant morphological, physiological and photosynthesis characteristics may provide a tool to understand the basic drought resistance. To investigate the drought tolerance of I...
